England caretaker manager Lee Carsley has admitted he is not comfortable taking charge of the senior national team despite winning both of his games.
The 50-year-old was appointed on an interim basis. While the Three Lions search for a successor to Gareth Southgate, who will leave the club after Euro 2024.
Carsley enjoyed a fine start to his campaign, with wins over Ireland 2-0 and Finland 2-0 on Tuesday night. But admitted he is uneasy with the pressures of the job.
“I don’t feel comfortable at all. I’ve had to step out of my comfort zone to do this,” he admitted.
“It’s been fun but I’ve got to make sure every day. We have the highest standards and the whole staff have done that and everyone seems to have responded well.
” We’ve tried to do the best we can. We’ve been lucky to get two good results, it’s about building on what we’re building at the moment.”
